Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water until smooth. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine this mixture with orange juice, orange zest, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Stir frequently and bring the blend to a low simmer, allowing it to cook for about 3-5 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to preheat while you prepare the salmon.
  3. Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with lightly oiled aluminum foil to prevent the salmon from sticking.
  4. Baste Salmon: Arrange the salmon filets on the prepared baking sheet, skin side down. Generously brush the filets with the cooled orange teriyaki sauce, reserving half for later.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 14 minutes, or until flaky and opaque.
  6. Broil for Finish: Baste the salmon again with the reserved teriyaki sauce. Switch your oven to the broil setting and broil for 1 minute.
  7. Serve: Let it rest briefly, then serve over rice, drizzled with remaining sauce, and garnished with sesame seeds, green onions, and red pepper flakes.
