For the Filling
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Coconut sugar is a suitable substitute.
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream Coconut cream can replace for dairy-free.
For the Frosting
  • 1 cup Cream Cheese Opt for vegan cream cheese for dairy-free.
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar Adjust according to sweetness preference.
  • 1 tablespoon Freeze Dried Strawberry Powder Fresh strawberries can be used, consistency may change.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Paste/Extract Can be omitted.

Preparation Steps
  1. Step 1: Activate Yeast - In a small bowl, whisk together the warmed whole milk and granulated sugar, then sprinkle the active dry yeast on top. Let this mixture sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. Step 2: Mix Dough - Combine the flour, matcha powder, cornstarch, and fine sea salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and add the eggs. Mix in softened butter for 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  3. Step 3: First Rise - Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1.5 to 2 hours until doubled.
  4. Step 4: Prepare Filling - Whip softened butter, brown sugar, matcha powder, and vanilla until light and fluffy.
  5. Step 5: Shape Rolls - Punch down the dough, roll into a rectangle, spread filling, and cut into 12 pieces.
  6. Step 6: Second Rise - Place sliced rolls in a lined baking pan, cover, and let rise for another 1 to 1.5 hours.
  7. Step 7: Bake - Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Drizzle heavy cream and bake for 20-30 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Step 8: Frosting Prep - Whip together cream cheese, powdered sugar, strawberry powder, and vanilla until smooth, fold in heavy cream.
  9. Step 9: Frost Rolls - Frost the rolls after cooling for 10 minutes, topping with sliced strawberries if desired.
