Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

- Combine wet and dry ingredients, alternating with whole milk.

- For the custard, heat milk in a saucepan. Whisk together sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks in another bowl.
- Gradually add heated milk to the egg mixture, thro-whisking until thick.
- Slice each cake in half horizontally, creating four layers.
- Assemble the cake layers with custard and fresh strawberries.
- Chill the assembled cake for at least an hour before serving.
- Optionally garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.
