  • 2 pounds Chicken Thighs Juicy and full of flavor
  • 1 medium Onion Sliced into rings
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced
For the Marinade

  • 1 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper Optional for spice
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper Adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
For Serving
  • 1 cup Plain Greek Yogurt Can substitute with sour cream
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley Chopped for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the olive oil, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, ground cumin, ground coriander, smoked paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, black pepper, and optional cayenne pepper until well blended.
  2. Slice the onion into rings and layer them at the bottom of your slow cooker.
  3. Lay the chicken thighs on top of the onion layer in the slow cooker. Pour your prepared marinade over the chicken.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set to cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  5. Once cooked, shred the chicken in the slow cooker and mix well with the juices and onions.
  6. Serve the Slow Cooker Chicken Shawarma warm with Greek yogurt and parsley.
