Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by tossing your choice of thinly sliced beef, chicken, or tofu in cornstarch until it's evenly coated. Let it rest for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, add 2 tablespoons of vegetable or canola oil over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to heat for about 2 minutes until it's shimmering but not smoking.
  3. Carefully add the coated protein to the hot skillet in batches, searing each batch for 3–4 minutes until golden brown and crispy, then remove it from the skillet.
  4. Lower the heat slightly and sauté 2 tablespoons of minced garlic and 1 tablespoon of grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of water or broth. Pour this into the skillet and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Return the cooked protein to the skillet, add 1 cup of green onions, and heat through for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  7. Plate the Sizzling Mongolian Stir-Fry immediately over a bed of cooked rice or noodles and garnish with sesame seeds and chili flakes.
