  • 1 can Spam Classic Spam for authentic flavor
For the Wrap
  • 2 sheets Nori (seaweed) Opt for sushi-grade nori

  • 2 tbsp Dark brown sugar Can substitute with light brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce Use low-sodium if preferred
  • 1 tbsp Mirin Substitute with rice vinegar if unavailable
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil Optional, enhances flavor
For the Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp Furikake Can substitute with sesame seeds

Step-by-Step Instructions for Spam Musubi
  1. Rinse the Calrose rice under cold water until clear and cook according to package instructions, about 20 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together dark brown sugar, soy sauce, mirin, and optional sesame oil. Heat until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Pan-fry sliced Spam in a non-stick skillet until golden, adding teriyaki sauce in the last minute to caramelize.
  4. Lay a sheet of plastic wrap and nori on a clean surface, placing the musubi mold on top.
  5. Pack a layer of rice into the mold, add furikake, then top with teriyaki-glazed Spam.
  6. Wrap the nori over the Spam and rice, sealing with a bit of water if needed. Let sit to firm up.
  7. Slice the musubi into bite-sized pieces and serve fresh or pack for later.
