Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.
- Add finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until onions are translucent and fragrant.
- Transfer the beef mixture to the greased baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom. Layer thinly sliced potatoes on top.
- Sprinkle salt, pepper, dried Italian seasoning, and paprika generously over the layered potatoes.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese and grated Parmesan cheese over the layered potatoes and beef.
- Pour beef broth or water around the edges of the casserole dish. Optionally, add a splash of milk.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Once baked, let the casserole sit for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired.

Notes
Let the casserole sit for a few minutes after baking to enhance flavors and make slicing easier.
