  • 1.5 cups Water for cooking rice
  • 3 tablespoons Rice Vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar balances flavors
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
For the Spam
  • 1 can (12 oz) Spam main protein source
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated Sugar for caramelization
  • 2 tablespoons Water for caramelizing
For Assembly
  • 1 sheet Roasted Seaweed (Nori) can substitute with soy paper

Method
 

Preparing Hawaiian Spam Musubi
  1. Thoroughly rinse the sushi rice under cold water until clear. Cook in rice cooker with water.
  2. Slice Spam into ¼-inch thick pieces and sear in a skillet until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Caramelize Spam with a mixture of soy sauce, water, and sugar, simmer until thick.
  4. Pack seasoned rice in a lined Spam can, layer with caramelized Spam, and top with rice.
  5. Wrap with nori, sealing edges with water, then slice into bite-sized pieces.
