- Thinly slice the Granny Smith apples to about 1/8 inch thick. Soak dried cranberries in warm water for 10 minutes to plump them.
- Spread unsalted butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- Layer cheese, apple slices, cranberries, and another cheese slice between two slices of bread, butter side out.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat for 2 minutes, then add the sandwich and cook for 3-5 minutes until golden.
- Flip the sandwich and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until both sides are golden and cheese is melted.
