Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Irish butter, melted Can substitute with unsalted regular butter if needed.
  • 3 cups Unbleached all-purpose flour Whole wheat flour can be used for a denser texture but may require liquid adjustments.
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar Brown sugar gives a hint of molasses.
  • 1 tablespoon Baking powder Ensure it's fresh for optimal results.
  • 1 teaspoon Fine salt Sea salt or Himalayan can be used as alternatives.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder Fresh minced garlic can be used for a more intense taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion powder A key player in the bread's savory profile.
  • 4 ounces Irish cheddar cheese, shredded Any sharp cheese can work but will alter the overall taste.
  • 12 ounces Irish beer (e.g., Killian's Irish Red) Any lager or ale can be used, but flavors will vary.
For the Topping
  • Additional melted butter Drizzle on top for extra richness.
  • Fresh parsley (optional) Consider using chives for a different nuance.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brush the inside of your loaf pan generously with melted unsalted Irish butter.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder until well-combined.
  4. Stir in the shredded Irish cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Make a well in the center of the dry mixture, then pour in the Irish beer and mix gently until just combined.
  6. Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, spreading it evenly.
  7. Drizzle the remaining melted butter over the top of the batter.
  8. Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown.
