Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix 2 cups of flour, 1 ½ cups of sugar, and 2 teaspoons of baking powder until well combined.
  3. Whisk 4 eggs until frothy, then mix into dry ingredients until smooth.
  4. Divide the batter between pans and bake for 25-30 minutes; check with a toothpick.
  5. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before inverting onto wire racks to cool completely.
  6. Melt 1 cup of butter, stir in ½ cup of heavy cream and 4 cups of powdered sugar until smooth.
  7. Frost the top of one cake layer, add the second, and frost the top and sides.
  8. Melt 1 ½ cups of caramel candy, mix with 1 cup of chopped nuts, and sprinkle over cake.
