Ingredients
  

For the Marinade
  • 0.5 cup Soy Sauce Essential for umami flavor.
  • 3 tbsp Brown Sugar Adjust for personal preference.
  • 2 tbsp Mirin Substitute with white wine if necessary.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Adds rich flavor.
  • 0.25 tsp Black Pepper Cracked for enhanced flavor.
  • 1 small Asian Pear Peeled and chopped.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Cloves Minced.
  • 1 tsp Minced Ginger Use fresh if available.
For the Beef and Cooking
  • 1.5 pounds Boneless Ribeye Can substitute with sirloin.
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil For cooking.
  • 0.5 small Yellow Onion Thinly sliced.
For Garnish
  • 1 Green Onion Thinly sliced.
  • 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. In a large mixing bowl, toss together 1½ pounds of thinly sliced boneless ribeye and ½ small yellow onion. Set aside.
  2. In a blender, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sesame oil, black pepper, Asian pear, garlic cloves, and minced ginger. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour the marinade over the beef and onion mixture and coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil. Cook half of the marinated beef and onion for 4 to 6 minutes.
  5. Remove cooked beef and repeat with remaining beef and onion with more oil.
  6. Return all beef and onion to skillet, toss gently to combine, and serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
