Ingredients

For the Batter
  • 2 cups Almond Flour Substitution: Can replace with coconut flour with adjustments due to absorbency.
  • 1 cup Protein Powder (Hemp) Substitution: Pumpkin seed protein powder works as a 1:1 replacement.
  • 1/2 cup Maple Syrup Substitution: Honey can be used, but this will alter the dietary classification.
  • 2 large Eggs Not tested without eggs, use egg replacement only at your discretion.
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder Ensure it’s gluten-free if needed.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
For the Glaze (Optional)
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Can omit for a lower-calorie version; still delicious without the glaze!

Equipment

  • mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Donut pan
  • Plastic bag (for piping)

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat Your Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, protein powder, baking powder, and salt. Whisk until well incorporated.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and maple syrup until smooth.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture into the wet mixture, stirring gently until a smooth batter forms.
  5. Prepare Donut Pan: Transfer the batter into a plastic bag and cut one corner. Pipe the batter into the donut molds, filling them about three-quarters of the way full.
  6. Bake: Place the filled donut pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  7. Cool and Glaze: Allow the donuts to cool in the pan for about 5 minutes, transfer to a wire rack, and drizzle with melted dark chocolate if desired.
