- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot, bring water to a boil, add salt, and cook manicotti shells for 6-7 minutes until al dente, then drain and cool.
- In a large skillet, cook ground beef and Italian sausage with chopped onion for about 8 minutes, then add garlic and sauté for one more minute. Stir in marinara sauce and let simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
- Spread half of the meat sauce in a baking dish, fill each manicotti shell with ricotta mixture, and place shells seam-side down in the dish.
- Pour remaining meat sauce over filled shells and sprinkle with remaining mozzarella. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
