Preparation Steps
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil. Stir until well blended and set aside.
- Place chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag. Pour half of the marinade over the chicken, seal the bag, and massage to coat. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Transfer the remaining marinade into a separate container and refrigerate.
- After marinating, let the chicken sit at room temperature for 30 minutes. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange marinated chicken on the baking sheet, spacing apart. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Simmer the reserved marinade in a saucepan over medium heat for about 10 minutes until thickened.
- Brush thickened marinade over chicken and broil for an additional 2-3 minutes to caramelize.
- Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
