Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Homemade Peach Bun
  1. Prepare Yeast: Dissolve the fresh yeast in 220 ml of warm water, stirring until smooth and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
  2. Mix Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour with the yeast mixture using a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Knead: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for approximately 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Divide: Roll the dough into a log and cut it into approximately 10 equal portions.
  5. Shape Buns: Roll each portion into a ball, taper one end to create a peach shape, and pinch the bottom seam together.
  6. Add Color: Mix red yeast rice powder with water to create a color paste and apply it on the tops of the buns.
  7. Make Leaves: Roll out leftover dough and cut out leaf shapes to attach to the tops of the buns.
  8. Proof: Place shaped buns on a steaming rack, cover with a cloth, and let them proof for about 1.5 hours.
  9. Steam: Place the steaming rack in a pot of boiling water and steam the buns for 15-20 minutes until fluffy.
  10. Cool: Let the buns sit for 3-5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
