Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract, beating until fully combined and smooth.
  4. Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour until a crumbly dough forms.
  5. Incorporate cocoa powder into half of the dough to create the chocolate portion.
  6. Shape each dough portion into logs, twisting together to form a spiraled log.
  7. Cut the log into 1-inch sections to ensure even baking.
  8. Roll each cookie ball in sanding sugar and place on prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for about 12 minutes or until set but not overly brown.
  10. Press an unwrapped Hershey’s Hug or Kiss into the center of each warm cookie.
  11. Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving.
