Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 1 pound Boneless Chicken Thighs Can substitute with chicken breasts for a leaner option.
  • 1 cup Flour Swap with cornstarch for a lighter texture or use a gluten-free blend.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt Feel free to use sea salt or table salt in equal amounts.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Can be omitted for a milder flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder Use fresh minced garlic for a more robust taste.
For Frying
  • 1/2 cup Olive Oil or Canola Oil Ideal for frying at high temperatures.
For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Honey Maple syrup or agave syrup can be alternatives.
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter Unsalted lets you control the saltiness better.
  • 2 cloves Minced Garlic About 1 teaspoon of garlic powder substitutes for 2 cloves.
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (Light) Tamari can be used for a gluten-free option.

Equipment

  • Large Skillet

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Honey Butter Chicken
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined. Cut the boneless chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces, then add them to the bowl and toss until coated.
  2. Heat about 1/2 inch of oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the coated chicken pieces in a single layer and fry for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Remove and set aside to drain excess oil.
  3. In the same skillet, reduce heat and add unsalted butter. Allow to melt, then add honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Stir and let simmer for about 2 minutes until thickened and bubbly.
  4. Add the fried chicken back to the skillet and toss to coat in the sticky glaze. Serve immediately for the best taste.
