  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk Can be substituted with evaporated milk mixed with sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon pure peppermint extract Always choose pure extract to avoid off-tasting flavors.
  • ½ cup candy cane pieces Finely crushed peppermint candies can be used.
For the Milkshake
  • 1 cup milk Whole, skim, or dairy-free options like almond milk work well.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Electric mixer
  • Blender
  • Loaf pan

Method

Make the Ice Cream
  1. In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to whip 2 cups of heavy whipping cream on medium speed until soft peaks form, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. In another bowl, combine 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, 1 teaspoon of pure peppermint extract, and ½ cup of crushed candy canes, mixing until well blended.
  3. Gently fold the condensed milk mixture into the whipped cream until fully combined.
  4. Transfer the peppermint ice cream mixture into a loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  5. Sprinkle additional crushed candy cane pieces on top, cover tightly, and freeze for at least 6 hours or overnight.
Make the Milkshake
  1. Once the peppermint ice cream is fully frozen, scoop out about 2 cups and add it to a high-speed blender.
  2. Pour in 1 cup of milk and ½ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract.
  3. Blend on medium speed until smooth and creamy, about 30-45 seconds.
  4. Adjust the amount of milk to reach your desired thickness.
Serve the Milkshake
