Step-by-Step Instructions for Corn Rice
  1. Begin by rinsing 1 cup of short-grain or jasmine rice under cold water in a fine-mesh sieve.
  2. Fill the rice cooker pot with water up to the '1 cup rice' line and place the rinsed rice into the pot.
  3. Shuck 2-3 ears of fresh corn and slice down the sides to release the kernels.
  4. Sprinkle a generous pinch of salt over the kernels on top of the rice; optionally add soy sauce.
  5. Snap one of the corn cobs in half and place it on top of the kernels.
  6. Close the lid of the rice cooker and select the automatic cooking setting.
  7. Once the cooking cycle is completed, let the Corn Rice rest for 10 minutes without lifting the lid.
  8. Carefully open the lid, remove the cooked corn cobs, and fluff the rice with a rice paddle.
