Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 pound shrimp Fresh or frozen, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger Grated
  • 2 each green onions Finely chopped
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
For the Wrapping
  • 10 pieces wonton wrappers Thin and crispy
  • 1 each egg Beaten
For the Frying
  • 2 cups oil Neutral oil like vegetable or canola
Optional Add-ins
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes Optional for spice
  • 1 cup cheese Cream cheese or cheddar
  • 1 cup fresh herbs Cilantro or parsley
  • 1 cup chopped vegetables Bell peppers or carrots

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Gather your ingredients. Finely chop the green onions and mince the garlic.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the shrimp, green onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and allow marinating for 15 minutes.
  3. Lay out the wonton wrappers. Prepare a small bowl with beaten egg and fill your frying pan with about 2 inches of oil.
  4. Place a spoonful of shrimp mixture on a wonton wrapper, brush edges with egg, fold and seal the wrapper.
  5. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat to 350°F (175°C). Check readiness with a small piece of wonton wrapper.
  6. Carefully fry the wontons for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve the crispy wonton-wrapped shrimp on a platter with dipping sauces.

Notes
