Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Tofu: Start by draining your firm tofu and pressing it for 15-20 minutes to eliminate excess moisture. Cut the tofu into uniform bite-sized cubes, about 1-inch thick.
  2. Make the Sauce: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together honey (or maple syrup), minced garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Set aside.
  3. Coat the Tofu: Dredge each tofu cube in cornstarch, shaking off any excess for a perfect layer.
  4. Fry the Tofu: Heat a skillet with enough vegetable oil to coat the bottom. Once shimmering, add the tofu cubes in batches and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Combine and Serve: Return the skillet to heat and pour in the honey garlic sauce. Toss the crispy tofu until well coated. Serve garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
