  • 8 oz Cream cheese
  • 1 cup Shredded cheese Monterey Jack or cheddar
  • 2 pieces Green onions chopped
For the Spices
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder to taste
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black pepper
For Frying

Equipment

  • large deep skillet
  • tongs

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Filling: Combine the crab meat, chopped shrimp, cream cheese, shredded cheese, and green onions in a mixing bowl. Add garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to taste, and mix until smooth.
  2. Assemble the Taquitos: Lay a tortilla flat, spoon about two tablespoons of filling onto the bottom third, and roll tightly, tucking the sides in to hold shape.
  3. Heat the Oil: In a skillet, heat 1 inch of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Test readiness with a small piece of tortilla; it should sizzle.
  4. Fry the Taquitos: Place a few taquitos seam-side down in the skillet, frying for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve and Enjoy: Arrange on a platter, serve warm with dipping sauces like salsa or guacamole.

Notes

Opt for fresh seafood and slightly warm tortillas before filling for better rolling. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying to maintain oil temperature for crispy results.
