Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line your 9x13-inch baking dish with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. Combine softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a bowl and beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Slowly add flour, baking soda, and salt to the mixture and mix just until combined.
  6. Fold in M&M's and mini chocolate chips, reserving some for topping.
  7. Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  8. Press the reserved M&M's and mini chocolate chips into the top of the dough.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until edges are lightly golden and center is set but still soft.
  10. Allow to cool completely before lifting out and slicing into squares.
