Preparation
- Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat for 3-5 minutes.
- In a small saucepan, combine fresh blackberries, balsamic vinegar, honey, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Cook over medium heat, mashing blackberries, until thickened (about 5 minutes).
- Spread softened unsalted butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Lay two slices of bread buttered side down. Place slices of brie on top.
- Spoon the blackberry balsamic sauce over the brie.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up, and press down gently.
- Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and brie is melted.
- Slice the sandwich diagonally and serve.
- Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
