Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Spice Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the cumin, cinnamon, ground cloves, ground cardamom, black pepper, chili powder, salt, and turmeric. Stir thoroughly to ensure an even mixture.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Place the skinless, boneless chicken breasts or thighs in a large bowl and sprinkle the prepared spice mixture generously over the meat. Allow it to marinate for 30 minutes.
  3. Sauté the Aromatics: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and minced jalapeño peppers, sautéing for about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Cook the Chicken: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil and heat it over medium-high heat. Add half of the marinated chicken and brown it on both sides for about 5-6 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Finish Cooking the Chicken: Repeat the process with the remaining marinated chicken, then return both batches to the skillet to blend the flavors.
  6. Create the Coconut Curry Sauce: Pour the coconut milk into the skillet with the chicken and vegetable mixture. Bring it to a gentle simmer and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  7. Combine and Add Fresh Herbs: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce along with the fresh basil leaves and finely chopped ginger. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  8. Serve with Love: Serve the Basil Chicken in Coconut Curry Sauce over cooked brown rice or your favorite grain. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
